PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for supervisory-controlling an optical relaying device by utilizing the Raman effect without affecting transmission characteristics and a wavelength band of a signal light. SOLUTION: The supervisory control system an for optical relaying device of this invention utilizes the Raman effect produced by using a signal light Ls for a stimulated light in an optical transmission line 2 (Raman amplifying medium) to amplify a supervisory control signal light Lsv and to supervisory- control an optical relaying device 3 according to the Raman-amplified supervisory control signal light Lsv in an optical amplification relaying transmission system whereby the optical relaying device 3 amplifies the signal light Ls propagated through the optical transmission line 2 and relaying and transmitting the amplified light.
