PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium with a reflecting metallic layer excellent in long-term reliability, a base material for depositing a thin film suitable for use in the manufacture of the information recording medium and a method for producing the base material. SOLUTION: In the information recording media 10, 20, 30, 40, signal layers 15, 25, 35a, 35b, 45a, 45b with formed reflecting metallic layers 12, 22, 32a, 32b, 42a, 42b are irradiated with light to read out signals. Each of the reflecting metallic layers 12, 22, 32a, 32b, 42a, 42b comprises an aluminum alloy whose composition consists of, by weight, 1.0-10% Si, 0.05-0.25% Fe, 0.8-1.2% Mn, 0.2-0.3% Ti and the balance Al with inevitable impurities.
