PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing di-tert-butyl 1,3- adamantanedicarboxylate in high yield by using 1,3-adamantanedicarboxylic acid as a raw material. SOLUTION: This method for producing the di-tert-butyl 1,3- adamantanedicarboxylate comprises esterifying the 1,3-adamantanedicarboxylic acid with methanol in the presence of an acid catalyst to provide dimethyl 1,3-adamantanedicarboxylate, and subjecting the resultant dimethyl 1,3- adamantanedicarboxylate to an ester-interchange reaction with tert-butanol in a toluene solvent in the presence of a base catalyst.
