PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having a cyclohexyl fatty acid as a base structure, obtained by introducing an α,β-unsaturated carbonyl group to the 4-position of the cyclohexyl ring, having excellent cell morphology-changing activities, and useful as an intraocular pressure-lowing drug, i.e., a therapeutic agent of glaucoma. SOLUTION: This new compound is a compound of formula I (R1 is H, a lower alkyl, a cycloalkyl or an aryl; R2 is H or an ester residue; A is a lower alkylene), e.g. 3-[4-(2-phenylacryloyl)cyclohexyl]propionic acid. The compound of formula I can be produced, for example, by a method of treating a carboxylic acid derivative of formula II with thionyl chloride to provide a corresponding acid chloride, condensing the resultant acid chloride with a Grignard reagent to provide a compound of formula III, condensing the compound of formula III with paraformaldehyde in the presence of a secondary amine by Mannich reaction, and subjecting the product to an elimination reaction.
