摘要：
An oil lamp is made up of a storage container, a wick soaked therein and the height of which is adjusted to adjust the height of the flame and therefore the consumption of hydrocarbon fuel. A box of "tin can" type (1) contains a methanol or ethanol alcoholate with salts in solution or suspension, or both mixed (2), a "wick" (3') made of cotton, wadding, glass wool, depending on whether the presence of sodium (in the glass wool) is tolerated or not, and a support (5) on which the cotton, wadding or wool rests. This support (5) is connected to 2 wires (4-4a) which are found when the tin can is opened. The wires (4-4a) are pulled to adjust the height (beyond the top edge of the can) of the cotton, wadding or wool. If the whole is placed over a source of heat, the colour will appear more spontaneously after the lighting.
