The invention relates to a catheter (1) and to a method for renal denervation. The catheter comprises a plurality of electrodes (9) arranged at a distal portion (13) of the catheter (1) and a PFA pulse generator (29) configured for generating electric PFA pulses. Furthermore, the catheter (1) is configured for implementing the method for renal denervation comprising applying electric PFA pulses to a vascular wall of a renal vessel at a position adjacent to nerves of a patient's sympathetic nervous system. Therein, the PFA pulses are applied via at least two electrodes (9) of the catheter (1) arranged within the renal vessel. The PFA pulses are configured such as to induce electroporation in nerve cells of the patient's sympathetic nervous system.
