摘要：
The present invention relates to an image display device capable of appropriately adjusting the brightness of a display according to a change in the brightness of ambient light regardless of an average brightness of the ambient light, and a control method thereof. An aspect of the present invention may provide an image display device comprising: a display; an ambient light detection sensor; and a control unit for determining the brightness of the display according to the brightness of ambient light detected in real time by the ambient light detection sensor, on the basis of a first graph line of the brightness of the display compared to the brightness of the ambient light, and determining whether to adjust the first graph line, on the basis of a maximum brightness operation time of the display.
