The invention pertains to an activator composition for a mortar or concrete binder, comprising an alkali-containing compound; a compound containing a halogen element, different from the alkali-containing salt; a compound containing aluminium and a sulphate group; and a compound comprising 50 wt% or more of an earth-alkali metal oxide. The invention further pertains to a binder composition comprising the activator composition and at least one inorganic precursor.
