Presented are concepts for monitoring hemodynamics of a patient. One such concept employs a sensor unit (22) for sensing light or sound from tissue of the patient. A support unit (23) is adapted to support the sensor unit and comprises a recess (24). The support unit is adapted to be positioned against the tissue of the patient. When the support unit is positioned against the tissue of the patient, the recess is adapted to be positioned to cover a target region of the tissue of the patient and the sensor unit is adapted to detect light or sound from the target region of the tissue of the patient.
