The invention relates to a signal isolator with reduced power loss. The signal isolating circuit contains an input stage (40; 140) and an output circuit (5; 100) which is arranged downstream thereof and which includes a linear regulator (10; 110). The linear regulator (10; 110) comprises an operational amplifier (20; 120) and a switching regulator (30; 130), wherein an input of the switching regulator (30; 130) is connected to an output of the operational amplifier (20; 120) and an output of the switching regulator (30; 130) is fed back to a first input of the operational amplifier (20; 120). The operational amplifier (20; 120) regulates the switching regulator (30; 130) such that the switching regulator (30; 130) provides at its output an output measurement signal for a load (50; 150) that corresponds to the input measurement signal.
