In a ticketing system, machine readable tags are each associated with at least one service. A portable electronic device is configured to read the machine readable tags and to generate an indication of a service used. The portable electronic device is operable to send an indication of a service used via a wireless network to a server. The server is configured to receive the indication and to generate a record of the service used.
