The invention relates to the field of cryogenic propulsion and, in particular, to a cryogenic propulsion assembly (1), comprising at least: a reignitable main propulsion unit (6); a first cryogenic tank (2), connected to the main propulsion unit (6) for supplying said propulsion unit with a first propellant; a first gas tank (4); at least one compression propulsion unit (7, 8); and a first supply circuit (16) for the first gas tank (4). The invention also relates to a method of supplying the first gas tank (4) with the first propellant in the gaseous state. The aforementioned first supply circuit (16) for the first gas tank (4) is connected to the first cryogenic tank (2) and comprises a heat exchanger (19) which uses heat released by the at least one compression propulsion unit (7, 8) in order to vaporise a liquid stream of the first propellant taken from the first cryogenic tank (2), so as to supply the first gas tank (4) with the first propellant in the gaseous state.
