The present invention discloses a method, an apparatus, and a system for configuring a device. The method for configuring a device of the present invention includes: receiving a configuration template sent by a configuration server; receiving a device announcement message sent by a terminal device, where the device announcement message carries terminal device information of the terminal device, and the terminal device information includes first information identifying current service configuration of the terminal device; and configuring the terminal device based on the configuration template and the first information. The apparatus for configuring a device of the present invention includes a first receiving module, a second receiving module, and a configuring module. The system for configuring a device of the present invention includes a configuration server, a gateway, and a terminal device. The method, apparatus, and system of the present invention are capable of simplifying the process of configuring the terminal device by the gateway, and improving the efficiency of configuring the terminal device by the gateway.
