An apparatus for the centrifugal separation of a solid-liquid mixture containing magnetic particles, comprising (a) a container within which centrifugation occurs that has an axis and a wall; (b) a magnetic matrix that rotates within the container and attracts magnetic particles; and (c) an opening about the wall through which magnetic particles are passed from the magnetic matrix.
