To assess wear of the contacts in the electrical switchgear (6), a measuring device (50) has been developed. the measuring device (50) according to the invention comprises means (54A) for exerting a predetermined force on the armature (22) of the electromagnetic actuator (20) of the switching apparatus (6), said means (54A) being provided with a coupling element (40) complementary to the coupling claw (32) of said devices (6). the measuring device (50) is adapted to exert a force to put the contacts of the switching apparatus (6) just in closed position, to measure the displacement thus generated on the armature (22), and to calculate wear according to the displacement measured from the initial gap. The device (50) according to the invention is adapted to be used routinely on a park contactors (6), possibly of different ranges with the means to select the force applied and the initial gap to consider.
