The invention relates to a brake system (60,80,100) for a vehicle, having a sensor device (16a,16b,20a,20b,22a,22b) for provision of a first and second sensor signal (18a, 18b, 24a, 24b, 26a, 26b), a first and a second brake control device (28a, 28b) which are directly connected to the sensor device (16a,16b,20a,20b,22a,22b) and which provide a corresponding control signal for the first and/or second sensor signals (18a,18b,24a,24b,26a,26b), and a first and a second signal line (34a,34b) for transmitting the control signal, wherein the first signal line (34a) directly connects the first brake control device (28a) to a first and second wheel actuator device (30a,32a), and the second signal line (34b) directly connects the second brake control device (28b) to a third and fourth wheel actuator device (30b,32b), wherein the four wheel actuator devices (30a,30b,32a,32b) exert a brake torque corresponding to the control signal on the assigned wheel, and wherein the first wheel actuator device (30a) is directly connected to the second brake control device (28b) and/or the sensor device (16a,20a,22a). The invention relates also to a method for the operation of a brake system (60,80,100) for a vehicle.
