The longitudinal adjustment device (2) has an upper rail (8) which can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction (6) and a fixed lower rail (4). A linear guide (16) with a bearing element (18, 20, 22) for longitudinally guiding and supporting the upper rail (8) is arranged in the longitudinal direction (6) between the upper rail (8) and the lower rail (4). A recess (40) which is bounded by two stops is provided in the central region of the bearing element (18, 20, 22). A driver (44) which engages in the recess (40) is arranged on the upper rail (8). When the upper rail (8) is displaced, the bearing element (18, 20, 22) is driven by the driver (44) so that the upper rail (8) is always supported against the lower rail (4) over its entire length.
