As cutting device (1; 50) includes a table (2) having an upper surface for placing thereon a workpiece (W, W1, W2), a positioning fence (7) operable to position the workpiece (W, W1, W2) on the upper surface of the table (2); and a tool unit (10) vertically movably supported on the table (2). The tool, unit (10) includes a drive source, a rotary tool (12) rotatably driven by the drive source, and a cover configured to cover an upper portion of the cutting tool (12), The cover has a lower end portion including a first part (11c) and a second part (11d) positioned on opposite sides with respect to a rotational axis of the cutting tool (12). When the tool unit (10) is positioned a substantially lowermost position, the first part (11c) is positioned at a first level and vertically opposes to the fence (7), while the second part (11d) is positioned at a second level and does not oppose to the fence (7). The first level is higher than the second level.
