A fitting (20) for use in fusion welding mating thermoplastic components includes a weld bead chamber (24) to capture and conceal a bead (36) formed as a result of the fusion weld. The weld bead chamber (24) integrates the bead (36) into the fitting (20) so that the joined parts have a finished look without mechanical polishing or grinding of the completed piece. A stop ledge (30) included in the weld bead chamber (24) prevents over insertion of a pipe (32) or other component into the fitting (20). A view window (38) in the fitting permits inspection of the finished bead (36).
