A device for joining pipe ends (15), which are formed with axially protruding joining flanges (17, 18), comprises a first limb (1) and a second limb (2), which are connected to one another via a connecting web (8) and are designed for reaching around the joining flanges (17, 18) in an engagement area. In addition, a spring arm (12) is provided with which, when the joining flanges are reached around, an axial force can be exerted upon the joining flanges (17, 18). A tool engagement arrangement (13, 14) is formed on the spring arm (12) and can be brought into engagement with a tool in order to axially displace the spring arm (12) against the axial force in a direction pointing away from the engagement area. This enables a stable joining of pipe ends (15) that, however, can be released relatively easily even under confined conditions.
