The invention relates to a vacuum toilet for vehicles, comprising a WC bowl with a seat and a cover in addition to functional parts for supplying rinsing water for the production and for the use of a vacuum, using compressed air for the creation of said vacuum, using electric energy and also for a program control unit, in addition to control elements and sensors, actuating elements, indicators and the like. All elements are embodied in the form of modules or as independent structural elements and are provided with socket and plug connection elements for electrical connection to signal and energy conductors. The program control unit is exclusively connected to one of the elements and respectively adjacent elements are connected to each other and can receive control signals and respond thereto or forward said signals to other elements (plug and play system).
