A bullet (50; 100) includes at least a mid core (52) and a rear core (56) in tandem alignment. The hardness of the mid core (52) is greater than the hardness of the rear core (56). A jacket (16) envelops both the mid core (52) and the rear core (56). The jacket (16) has a generally cylindrical sidewall (62), which is in contact with the mid core (52), and a boat-tail (22), which is in contact with the rear core (56). The rear core (56) is substantially container within the boat-tail (22). The mid core (52) and the rear core (56) may be substantially lead-free. In one embodiment, the bullet (50) includes a front core (12) in tandem alignment with the rear core (56) and in contact with a nose portion (18) of the jacket (16). In another embodiment, the mid core (52) extends from the noise portion (28) of the bullet (100) to the boat-tail (22).
