A separating agent for an optical isomer, characterized in that a carrier having a polymerizable functional group, a polymerizable polysaccharide derivative which is a polysaccharide derivative having a polymerizable functional group, and a polymerizable monomer having a polymerizable unsaturated group are copolymerized, to thereby bind chemically with one another; and a method for preparing the separating agent. The separating agent for an optical isomer combines high ability of optical resolution, which is inherent in a polysaccharide derivative, and satisfactory resistance to a solvent, and the method allows the preparation of the separating agent by a simple process with good efficiency.
