The invention relates to a diaphragm pump which comprises a pressure sensor arranged in the housing thereof, and which is used as an expansion tank for protecting said pressure sensor. In order to avoid excess pressure on the pressure sensor (18), the pressure sensor membrane (31) is directly arranged in the pump head, i.e. above the pump membrane (30) of the diaphragm pump (11), in such a way that the increase in volume of the reducing agent during the freezing of the reducing agent inside the diaphragm pump (11) is detected by means of deflection of the pump membrane (30) against the force of a spring (35), and the pressure sensor membrane (31) is protected from damage.
