A roll support member is provided, a pair thereof being used when housing in a packaging material a roll-form recording material formed from a long length of recording material sheet wound around a cylindrical core. The roll support member has a four comer-cut rectangular substrate portion (4) having ribs (4a, 4b) on both sides; a cylindrical protruding portion (5) that is formed integrally with the substrate portion (4) in the center of the surface on one side of the substrate portion (4), has the extremity thereof closed, and has a hollow interior portion having a concentric rib (5a) and radial ribs (5b); and projecting portions (6) that extend from each of four corners of the substrate portion (4), the side of the substrate portion on which the cylindrical protruding portion (5) is formed being provided with a U-shaped channel (8) having radial ribs (8a).
