A multifiber optical ribbon cable 2 and a multifiber optical ribbon cable connector assembly 10 allow the cable to extend from the rear of the connector assembly at an angle of ninety (90) degrees. The multifiber optical ribbon cable connector assembly 10 includes a two piece spring push adapter 30 that holds a coil spring 20 between the spring push adapter 30 and an optical ferrule 12. The spring push adapter 30 includes a curved, closed channel 40, which completely encloses that segment 4 of the cable 2, a provides for a smooth transition as a multifiber optical ribbon cable segment 4 bends and twists through ninety degrees. This two piece spring push adapter 30 can also be assembled on the cable 2 after the optical fibers are terminated to the ferrule 12.
