A one-core two-way optical transmission system which transmits optical signals output from optical transceivers connected respectively to the opposite ends of one optical fiber transmission line through the optical fiber transmission line in two ways, and which uses back-exciting Raman amplification utilizing a Raman amplification effect by back-exciting, wherein frequencies satisfying conditions, |fs1-f0| ≠|fp2-f0| and |fs2-f0| ≠|fp1-f0|, are selected when the zero-dispersion frequency of an optical fiber transmission line is f0, the frequency of a first optical signal fs1, the frequency of a second optical signal fs2, the frequency of a first Raman exciting light fp1, and the frequency of a second Raman exciting light fp2.
