摘要：
The invention relates to a sheathed element glow plug for arrangement in a combustion chamber. A rod-shaped heating element is located in a concentric bore of the housing. Said heating element has a first current-carrying layer (11), a second current-carrying layer (12) and an insulation layer (15), said insulation layer (15) separating the first current-carrying layer (11) from the second current-carrying layer (12). The first current-carrying layer (11) and the second current-carrying layer (12) are connected by a conducting layer segment (13) at the combustion chamber-side end of the heating element. The first current-carrying layer (11) and the second current-carrying layer (12) are of different lengths, the first current-carrying layer (11) having a larger cross-section in relation to its length otherwise in a first section (21) at the combustion chamber-side end of the heating element and the second current-carrying layer (12) not projecting into this first section (21).
