A coil for a magnetic head includes (1) a spiral coil pattern encircling the generation center of a magnetic field and capable of being fed with current (2) and a conductor pattern provided outside the coil pattern, encircling the generation center, and incapable of being fed with current. The conductor occupancy rate R for the conductor pattern satisfies formulae (1) to (3) where S is the distance from the outermost periphery of the coil pattern and P is the pitch, and the conductor pattern does not form a closed loop encircling the coil pattern in the first area (A1) defined by formula (1).
