A flexible foam construction toy (10), comprising: an elongated foam body (12) having a central aperture (20) with a first diameter; a flexible wire (14), with a second diameter approximately equal to the first diameter, ± 20 %, and located along the central aperture (20) of the foam body (12) such that its ends (16, 18) are within a distance no greater than the diameter of the foam body (12) (or the diameter of the largest circle that can be drawn completely within a non-cylindrical foam body) from either end of the foam body (12); and adhesive between the wire (14) and the foam body (12) for assisting to maintain the wire (14) within the foam body (12).
