A device for correcting the position of the bottom dead center for a press comprises an axially expansible/contractible piezoelectric actuator mounted at a position affecting the bottom dead center, a piezoelectric drive means for supplying a high voltage to the piezoelectric actuator, means for setting the position of the bottom dead center, means for detecting the position of the bottom dead center, a signal comparator for emitting a deviational signal upon comparison between a signal indicating the set position and a signal indicating the detected position to provide the piezoelectric drive means with a respective adjustment signal to expand or contract the actuator to thereby change the position of the bottom dead center of the press.
