R is an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or arylalkyl group containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms,
Ph is the phenyl group, and
z is an integer comprised within the range of from 0 to 4,
are useful precursors for hydrotreating catalysts for heavy petroleum fractions.
