Disclosed is a method for microencapsulation of hydrophobic oils with dissolved color reactants of color reaction systems by reacting a water-soluble non-ionic melamine-formaldehyde precondensate and a water-soluble polymer in an oil-in-water dispersion for forming the capsule shell. The special characteristic of this method is that in order to stabilize the oil-in-water dispersion, an aqueous solution of a cationic melamine-formaldehyde precondensate and the aqueous solution of a water soluble polymer under vigorous agitation to be mixed, whereby in the mixture a solid finest suspension ceases, the thereby obtained mixture oil dissolved with the content of finely-suspended solid with the color reactant containing mixed with vigorous stirring, the thus obtained oil-in-water dispersion acidified and an aqueous solution of a water soluble nonionic melamine-formaldehyde pre-condensate is added for forming the capsule shell, with stirring. The use of cation-active melamine formaldehyde pre-condensate resulting in the precipitation of a finely-suspended reaction product thereof, which leads to stabilization of all the reaction systems during the procedure. It can be exquisite capsules obtained without agglomeration. Further, the invention relates to the microcapsules obtainable by the above process and their advantageous use in color reaction recording systems refers.
