The image reader consists of a read out unit, an image signal processing unit and a cut off unit. The read out unit stores electric charge within preset time so as to read the image of the original diagram, and outputs the stord electric charge in the next period of time. The image signal processing unit processes the output image signal of the read out unit. The cut-off unit cuts off the image signal during the image output time after the reading request pulse is set to the read out unit.
