The series compensation system comprises three series compensation apparatuses connected to three-phase phase lines of the power transmission line in a one-to-one corresponding mode. Each series compensation apparatus comprises a series compensation platform provided with a capacitance compensation device and insulated from the ground, a first series connection isolation switch, a second series connection isolation switch, a parallel connection isolation switch, a voltage transformer, a lightning arrester and a bypass switch. The first series connection isolation switch, the second series connection isolation switch, the parallel connection isolation switch, the voltage transformer, the lightning arrester and the bypass switch are arranged on a ground support. The series compensation system of the embodiment of the application guarantees the transmission power and the voltage stability of the alternating current extra-high voltage power transmission line.
