The external monitor device of the STATCOM high voltage capacitor discharge container comprises an embedded micro computer which has a linkage function and can receive work state signals of a capacitor in real time and further comprises a first Bluetooth transceiver on a control system in an STATCOM container, wherein the embedded micro computer is provided with a second Bluetooth transceiver which communicates with the first Bluetooth transceiver on the control system in the STATCOM container, and the embedded micro computer is connected with a driver which controls opening and closing of a door of the container. The monitor device can be mounted on various containers and can rapidly and accurately determine a discharge state of a high voltage capacitor; the driver and a door lock of the container door are linked, so safety of an operator is guaranteed; a fault of the STATCOM system can be timely processed; and normal operation of an electric power system can be guaranteed.
