The invention discloses a method and a system for checking electromechanical transient model parameters of a static var compensator. In a certain stable operation state, a disturbance signal is addedinto a control system of the static var compensator; an observed signal is output by the control system; electromechanical transient model parameters of the static var compensator are identified through a frequency spectrum response curve obtained by the two signals; according to the method, the model and parameters of the static var compensator for large power grid calculation can be effectivelydetermined, a deterministic basis is provided for mode arrangement of a power grid, and a solution is provided for solving the voltage problem of an extra-high voltage sending-out system and a new energy sending-out system.
