The invention discloses a device and a method for measuring the molecular weight of an insoluble and infusible methylene aromatic polymer. The device comprises a CO gas cylinder, a nitrogen cylinder,a vacuum pump, a double-row pipe, a pressure-resistant reaction bottle, a vacuum gauge and a bubbler. By using the device, the number-average molecular weight Mn of the insoluble and infusible methylene aromatic polymer obtained by catalyzing monochloromethylene aromatic ArCH2Cl and a mixture thereof to perform polycondensation by a CO/Lewis acid synergistic catalysis system which cannot be measured by the conventional method can be measured; the device is suitable for measuring the polymer of which the number-average molecular weight Mn is less than or equal to 3 x 10<4>; and when the molecular weight of the polymer exceeds the range, the relative error is large.
