The invention belongs to the field of tank-type lightning arresters, and relates to a gland installed on a core body through press fitting and used for a tank-type lightning arrester and a tank-type lightning arrester. The gland is fixedly installed on the supporting column of the core body; the gland is a conductive part and is conductively communicated with a high-voltage input conductive body and a resistor sheet; the gland is provided with an upper end surface, a lower end surface and an outer circumferential surface which is in arc transition connection with the two end surfaces; the lower end surface of the gland is provided with a containing recessed part extending upwards and is used for installing a conductive elastic piece so as to press the resistor sheet downwards; the gland has a set thickness in a vertical direction; and when the gland is installed on the core body of the lightning arrester, the lower end surface of the gland is lower than the lower end of the conductiveelastic piece or is flush with the lower end of the conductive elastic piece so as to shield the conductive elastic piece. The structure of the gland itself can uniformize a surrounding electric field; the gland can shield the conductive elastic piece; and therefore, a shielding cover does not need to be arranged in the lightning arrester, and the quality of the lightning arrester is prevented from being influenced by the shielding effect of the shielding cover.
