The invention relates to an overhead insulated cable swing simulation device and a working method thereof. The overhead insulated cable swing simulation device is characterized by comprising a host frame, wherein a guide rail is fixedly arranged above the host frame; a sliding frame plate is slidably connected to the guide rail through a sliding block; the sliding frame plate extends in the lengthdirection of the guide rail; a plurality of cable limiting mechanisms are arranged on the upper surface of the sliding frame plate; a motor is fixedly arranged in the host frame; the head of the rotating shaft of the motor is fixedly connected with a curved wheel disc; the curved wheel disc is connected with the lower end of a swinging block on the side by a crank connecting rod; and the upper end of the swinging block extends upwards in the vertical direction to be fixedly connected with the sliding frame plate. The overhead insulated cable swing simulation device is simple and reasonable instructure and capable of effectively simulating the swinging of the cable under the influence of wind power.
