The invention relates to a liquid crystal composition. The liquid crystal composition comprises, in parts by mass, 1-60 parts of a compound which is represented in a formula I, 1-80 parts of a compound which is represented by a formula II, 1-40 parts of a compound which is represented by a formula III, 1-20 parts of a compound which is represented by a formula IV and 1-35 parts of a compound whichis represented by a formula V, wherein R1 represents an alkyl or alkoxy group of C1-C12, R2 represents an alkyl group of C1-C12, and R31 represents an alkyl group of C1-C12; R32 represents an alkyl or alkoxy group of C1-C12, R4 represents an alkyl group of C1-C12, and L1 and L2 represent H or F separately and independently; and L1 and L2 do not represent F simultaneously, and R5 represents an alkyl group of C1-C12. The liquid crystal composition has low rotary viscosity, and has the characteristic of effective reduction of the response time of a liquid crystal display.
