The invention discloses a mung bean blooming gene VrFT2a and an application thereof. The mung bean blooming gene VrFT2a contains nucleotide sequences selected from the following groups: (a) a nucleotide sequence as shown in a sequence table Seq ID NO.1; (b) a nucleotide sequence complementary with the nucleotide sequence in(a); (c) a nucleotide sequence which has at least 50% homology with the nucleotide sequence in(a); (d) a nucleotide sequence which is the same as the nucleotide sequence coding in (a) of a protein containing an amino acid sequences but which is different from the nucleotidesequence in (a) in sequence; (e) a nucleotide sequence coding one of the following amino acid sequences of amino acid sequences as shown in a sequence table Seq ID NO.2; (f) an active fragment of thenucleotide sequence in any one of (a) to (e); or (g) a nucleotide sequence complementary with the nucleotide sequence in any one of (a) to (e). The mung bean blooming gene VrFT2a disclosed by the invention can urge transgenic plants to bloom in advance and shorten bearing period, and has thephysiological function of adjusting and controlling the flowering period of the plants.
