The converter valve tower of a vertical structure comprises at least two valve layers stacked up and down, a grading ring arranged over the upmost valve layer, a water leakage detection mechanism arranged under the lowermost valve layer, each valve layer comprises two valve modules arranged in parallel, a maintenance platform that can be dismountedand translated is arranged between the valve modules in the same layer, the valve modules in the same layer are electrically connected with a bus pipe, the adjacent valve layers are electrically connected with a cross-layer bus pipe, the adjacent valve layers are connected via cable-stayed type insulators in the two ends, and at least two cooling water pipes are arranged in the valve modules in the same row. The valve tower uses the vertical structure, and the valve modules in the same layer and the valve modules in adjacent valve layers are connected via the bus pipes, so that the structureis compact, land occupation of the valve tower is effectively reduced, valve bodies are convenient to install, and the stability of the valve tower is improved.
