The invention relates to the technical field of composite material detection, and in particular relates to a wheel-type probe interface wave tracking method in ultrasonic phased array composite material detection. A wheel-type probe is connected with an ultrasonic phased array detector. The wheel-type probe is moved. The position of the water bladder interface of the wheel-type probe is adjusted, and thus the water bladder interface of the probe coincides with the upper surface of a detected workpiece. The ultrasonic phased array detector is initiated to sample the detected workpiece. Sampled data display the defect of the workpiece in an image mode. An interface wave tracking algorithm is adopted to accurately position and calculate the defect of the workpiece. The invention further provides a system using an ultrasonic phased array excitation wheel-type probe to detect a composite material. The method and the system, which are provided by the invention, are simple in structure and are worthy of promotion.
