The invention discloses a method and device for indirectly reflecting impact toughness of a metal material, wherein the device comprises a rack, a loading device and a displacement sensor are arrangedon the rack, a telescopic end of the loading device is provided with a pressure head, the pressure head comprises an action part and a handle part, the pressure sensor is arranged between the actionpart and the handle part, the displacement sensor is arranged in parallel to the telescopic direction of the loading device, a fixed part of the displacement sensor is connected with the rack, and a movable part of the displacement sensor is connected with the telescopic end of the loading device; and method comprises the following steps: loading a sample by using the pressure head; recording thedisplacement change of the pressure head in the loading process, and recording the pressure change of the sample corresponding to the displacement change; and calculating the work W done in the loading process according to the recorded force-displacement curve. The impact toughness of the material is reflected by the value of the work W, and under the same condition, the larger the measured W value is, the better the impact toughness of the material is.
