The invention discloses a hydrophobic ceramic coating on the surface of a power line and a preparation method thereof. The method comprises the following steps of weighing raw materials of Al2O3 80%-90%, Fe2O3 of 7%-17% and Fe of 3%-13%, and mechanically mixing the raw materials uniformly to obtain ceramic powder spraying material; and carrying out sand blasting on the surface of the power line, then spraying the prepared ceramic powder onto the sandblasted power line surface by using plasma spraying equipment, and cooling to obtain the hydrophobic ceramic coating. The hydrophobic ceramic coating solves the problems that dust adheres to the surfaces of existing wires easily and the surfaces cannot be self-cleaned. The invention aims to provide the preparation method for preparing the aboveceramic material.
