The invention provides a system and method for blunting a high beam lamp of a rear vehicle. The method comprises the steps that when the high beam lamp of the rear vehicle interferes with driving of avehicle, a trigger unit is triggered to provide a trigger signal to a wireless transmission module; the wireless transmission module sends a first control signal to a polarizer control unit so that the polarizer control unit controls a polarizer to descend to shield a rearview mirror, high light of the high beam lamp of the rear vehicle is polarized to eliminate a high light reaction of the highbeam lamp of the rear vehicle, and a third control signal is sent to a warning lamp control unit to enable the warning lamp control unit to be turned on and blink so as to remind the rear vehicle to turn off the high beam lamp; when the high beam lamp of the rear vehicle is turned off, the trigger unit stops providing the trigger signal; and the wireless transmission module sends a second controlsignal to the polarizer control unit so that the polarizer control unit controls the polarizer to return back to an original position, and a fourth control signal is sent to the warning lamp control unit to enable the warning lamp control unit to control the warning lamp to be turned off.
