The invention provides a stacked ring type direct shear instrument. The direct shear instrument includes a compacting structure, a direct shear structure and shearing boxes; the compacting structure includes a work case, a motor, a hydraulic jack oil cylinder, an elevating screw rod, a small steel plate, a large steel plate, a first control switch, a base plate, damping rods, a bearing plate, damping springs, a fixing plate, a slide track, a position clip bulge and a position clip seat; the direct shear structure includes a supporting steel frame, control switches, a normal force applying device, a vertical load and displacement sensor, a horizontal load applying device, a horizontal supporting device, a shearing force load sensor, a magnet and a horizontal displacement sensor; the shearing boxes include upper shearing boxes and lower shearing boxes, and stacked rings are placed in the middle. The shearing boxes can slide back and forth on the dual track, so that processes of accomplishing hand-operated or electric compacting on equipment can be ensured, and therefore, common direct shearing experiments or stacked ring type direct shearing experiments can be completed, and the inconvenience of carrying and soil disturbance caused by the transporting of the equipment to the direct shear instrument after the external of the equipment is compacted under original conditions can beavoided.
