The invention relates to a control method and device of wide area power grid damping. The method comprises the following steps: collecting an electromagnetic signal in a wide area power grid; acquiring a low-frequency oscillation signal, causing the low-frequency oscillation of the wide area power grid, corresponding to the electromagnetic signal by utilizing the pre-established deep neural network model, and acquiring a damping signal applied to each module in the wide area power grid for the low-oscillation signal by utilizing a pre-established recurrent neural network model; and taking theacquired latest damping signal as the damping signal applied to each module in the wide area power grid. Through the technical scheme provided by the invention, the influence on the inertia control performance by the network delay can be determined, and the random behavior of an information system can be really reflected, thereby effectively suppressing the low-frequency oscillation of the power system.
