The method for safely utilizing the coal bed gas comprisesthe following steps that when the volume fraction of methane in the coal bed gas is 1.5-2%, and after being heated, the coal bed gas is mixed with preheated catalyst to carry out catalytic combustionreaction; when the volume fraction of the methane in the coal bed gas is 2-4%, the coal bed gas is mixed with the preheated catalyst to carry out catalytic combustion reaction; and when the volume fraction of the methane in the coal bed gas is 4-15%, after being diluted, the coal bed gas is mixed with the preheated catalyst to carry out catalytic combustion reaction. By adoption of the treatmentmethod, safe treatment of the coal bed gas with the volume fraction of the methane being 1.5-15% can be realized; and operation is simple and convenient, energy consumption is low, and the method is suitable for industrial production.
